This restaurant is a tradition in Oaxaca. It has a few locations, we like going to the one in downtown but this one is closer to home. They have a wide selection of dishes both local & international available, like burgers, crepes, meat cuts, Amarillo mole, different kinds of pasta & for breakfast chilaquiles, eggs in different preparations like rancheros, scrambled, etc. Good customer service, most of the time waiters come by your table to ask if you need anything, just not very often when you're sitting upstairs.
There's a minimalistic decoration, in my opinion I prefer a different decoration, make it a bit cozier. -

This was our very first stop upon hitting Oaxaca after a few hours of walking around the markets. It was a recommendation from the hotel receptionist . She said it was a favorite among the locals. It was a nice respite from the bustling mercados and a great place to people watch in the Zocalo. Our waiter spoke English very well. Turns out he lived in Janesville, WI for many years which was close to Madison, WI where we lived also for many years. The beers were ice cold, served in frozen mugs. A huge plus. We were eager to try the tamal and tlayudas. We enjoyed them since they were our first tastes. We've since eaten in other places and have a better appreciation for what makes a good tamal and tlayudas.
